Potentially really stupid question....

but, a good friend once told me that "The only stupid question is the one you don't ask," so here goes....

I know, in the Start Menu/taskbar customization area, there's a place to set how many items show in the jump list....my question is, why does the jump list stop taking new items after about 35? (Even though my "number of recent items to display in jump lists" is set to 60?)

I know it's probably a PEBKAC (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair)....but any information would be appreciated. XD

I believe it's artificially limited by screen size. I have been able to get more to display (although not 60) at 1920x1200, but if I artificially limit my display to 1280x1024, I can only get around 20 - 25 items. I am guessing 60 is the max, but just because it's set to 60 doesn't mean you'll actually get that many. It is the only thing I've found (screen rez) that affects the number of items in a jump list, but my testing is by no means scientific.

I think cluberti is correct, but there are sometimes several ways to skin a cat with Microsoft. One of the things you can do is to make a Jumplist shortcut to your FULL list of recent items ---

The "Recent Items" folder is located here: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent

Also, take a look at these tutorials for some other suggestions:
