Windows 7: IE9 will only open in 64-bit

Windows 10 Pro x64

Download procmon zip file / extract procmon.exe, double-click procmon to run (accept EULA), and it'll start logging as soon as it starts. Very quickly reproduce the issue, and then (again, as quickly as you are able) go back to the procmon window and choose File > Save to save the log (the default is native .pml file, which is preferred). That resulting .pml file can be zipped up and uploaded (either here or a filesharing site) for download/analysis.

It's 167MB...should I wait a while after I open, or go as soon as possible?

As soon as you open procmon, it'll start logging, so start to reproduce the issue as soon as you open procmon, and then save the log. 167MB is a bit large, but not unreasonable.

What I did is open iexplore.exe that I got from Program Files(x86) from my taskbar, it opened a seperate IE window, I pinned that, closed it and opened that which opened a seperate 64-bit IE.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Maybe pinning IE9 32 bit to your desktop instead of the taskbar will help.

So is IE perma-broken?
I just realised I haven't uploaded the file. I'll update the link as soon as it's ready.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I've had the same problem as you, and tried everything in this thread without results. Just now fixed mine, here's how:

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\ and drag the iexplore to your superbar, after unpinning all the other IE's. Right click it, and right click the Internet Explorer in the context menu. Click properties and in the target copy this:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Save it, and click the icon again. It will open another copy of IE on your superbar. Unpin the first, and pin this IE. Right click it, go to properties again, and copy the same for the target field. This should open IE9 32 bit by just clicking the pinned IE instead of having to right click and open it that way. Hope this helps.

The 8.1 OS made by Billy Microsoft

Go to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer, rename folder Interent Explorer - "X", now go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer and copy Internet Explorer folder to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer.
