Cannot create, reply or forward message with WL Mail 2011

I was running WL Essentials (version: 14.0.8117.0416) when KB2520039 (upgrade, not removable via Windows & Uninstall / Change), installed itself automatically. Then, every time I ran WL Mail, got this message: "Failed to initialize Shared Canvas: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Not possible to load file or assembly 'WindowsLive.Writer.Localization, Version=15.4.3508.1109, Culture=neutral" (for short, the message goes for about 10 lines).

To eliminate this problem, downloaded and installed WLE 2011 (15.4.3538.0513), after uninstalling WLE 2009.

NOTE: When installing any WLE version I just pick WL Messenger and WL Mail.

Now, every time I try to create, reply or forward a message in Live Mail, I receive this message: "A problem has occured when trying to open this message. A problem has occured. Please try again". No error codes are presented.
Also, I can not "Add to Calendar". If I try, the exactly same message appears.
I do receive all mails sent to me, and I can also send confirmation when message sender requests to do so.

I have already tried the following:

1. Repair Windows Live Essentials (via Uninstall / Change). Issue remains.
2. Uninstall and reinstall WLE 2011 (version 15.4.3538.0513). Did not work.
3. Remove and re-create all accounts (gmail and hotmail). Issue remains.
3. Uninstall WLE 2011, and install WLE 2009 (a.k.a. 14.0.8117.0416), and WL Mail works fine.
4. Install WLE 2011 over WLE 2009. Issue remains.


Do you guys have any ideas?

Hi J P,
I tried newest WLM and could'nt get back to same version 3. as your post, fast enough. It's far superior IMHO. I have good security programs so older version does'nt cause problems and is not flagged by Secunia as 'End of Life'
If your happy with yours, stick to 2009.

Do you have a Windows Live ID that you use to sign in to WLM ?

Its better to sign in to WLM, that way you get 'Safe' + 'Blocked' sender list to cut down on Spam and adding contact's address is done automatically.

I have already tried installing only WL Mail, after I have experienced another side effect of WLE 2011:
When I try to uninstall WLE 2011 or one of its components, when the progress bar of WLE removal approaches about 70% (wild guess), the dialog box presents a message, that reads something like (I am using a different language, Brazilian Portuguese): "Problem. A problem was found when removing the application". After that I see an error code, generally pointing the cause of the issue as related to either winlogon or writer (funny, since I never pick writer as an installation option). From the other two removal options (find and run wlarp.exe, and run a command line) available in Windows forums and download pages, only command line does the trick (Start > Accessories> Command prompt as an administrator): "c:\program files\windows live\installer\wlarp.exe" /cleanup:all /q.
Anyway, I tried to install just WL mail, using both the online and offline installer, to no avail.
So far, it seems I will have to stick to WLE 2009, if no option to solve this issue with WL Mail appears.
Concerning the KB2520039 upgrade, because of the claims from lots of people, Microsoft made this change optional, rather than critical, so it no longer installs itself automatically. My Windows Upgrade is off, and once a month, I manually check and choose the updates to install.
As previously mentioned, I have seen this same issue in several places over the internet. Options like uninstall and reinstall WLE 2011, and remove and re-create the e-mail accounts are the usual initial approaches. When those do not work, the user is oriented to contact Windows forums. So far, I read of a person in Australia, who did get a solution from a Windows forum,what included making either changes or repairs to Windows registry. I tried to contact this lucky person, but did not succeeded.
