Slow loading webpages

I'm currently using a laptop right now connected via wireless connection provided by the router and could browse and use any internet connection just fine, but apparently the second PC connected via ethernet cable seemed to be suffering when opening web pages. I tried checking the internet speed on that particular PC to see how it goes by going to speedtest.net. Given our 1 Mbps bandwidth subscription, I could say that a 0.76 Mbps download speed is just fine but is not justified by a very slow loading web page. Regardless of what browser to use, the problem remains. With the laptop connected via wireless to the internet, I could browse the internet quickly and could download at a maximum speed with the aid of a download manager.

Given the scenario, what seems to be causing the problem on that particular PC? Is it because of a particular router setting? Or the PC's hardware specs? Is this laptop I'm using which is connected wirelessly to the internet by the router sucks up most of the bandwidth thus slowing the other? Is there a chance that malware / adware causes it?

Websites such as Facebook and Yahoo Mail are the most common sites visited using that computer. Even Google.com loads really slow when there's not much to load in it when opening it's page as a search engine. I'm just not sure whether a third party software or any software within that computer uses the internet itself thus not give way for the browser. It used to be at a desirable level when using it as a medium for browsing and downloading something from the internet, even at direct link. I just need to hear people's opinion on this.

Btw, the spec of the 2nd PC, which is almost 2 years old already, goes as follows:
Windows 7 32-bit
Intel Dual Core @ 2.2 GHz
1 Gb RAM

• What antivirus software does the computer have? Also, could there be a program(s) interfering with the connection? Are you aware of all installed programs and have gotten rid of any that you don't need?don't remove drivers or windows updates listed in the control panel!
• Does that computer have the most recent drivers? The first link I shared with you should be able to help you further in this area

True, there are some heavy duty antiviruses out there. That is why I usually recommend Microsoft Security Essentials, as it is a lot more light weight while still being quite a good antivirus. You could even couple it with Malwarebytes, as that would work flawlessly side by side with MSE. Be careful with Beta versions, as they are obviously still in the testing phase. I would be very careful about disabling the firewall. It adds to your protection. What antivirus is so important that you would need to disable the firewall? Whatever it is you decide to do, hopefully you can get it back to speed.

Be careful whenever removing an antivirus that you look for its antivirus removal tool. It can potentially break something if you remove it from the Remove Programs in Control Panel.
