IE 9 crashes when opening tabs while playing a flash video

You can also try this (straight from Microsoft):

1. Click Start, Control Panel, Network and security and then click Internet Options
2. Click the Advanced tab, and then browse to the Accelerated graphics section.
3. Click to select the Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering check box.
4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
5. Close all open Internet Explorer 9 windows, and then restart Internet Explorer 9.
6. View the webpage in Internet Explorer 9.

If it is already selected, unselect it. Let me know of any changes.

I just tested both (enabling software rendering) and removing the graphic driver - both to no avail (tho I don't think it even has remotley something to do with the graphic card).

How do you do this? Are you talking about this: How do I configure Internet Explorer to download more than two files at one time?? Though that is for an older IE... but is it the same thing you're talking about?

What I mean is, there are special user-made customizations that you can download, like tweaks to windows itself to do things differently than was intended.

Also, I found this. You might read through it. It is pretty basic, but the last bit about activeX filtering is something I think you should try to see if it helps any, though you might not even have it enabled: Why doesn't Adobe Flash work in Internet Explorer?

the tab count seem not to matter, but I just wanted to give that number to revisit my former statement that IE opens a process for every restored tab. I haven't checked if it's the same number of processes after a crash everytime. gonna keep an eye out for that the next time I force the error.

I used tune up 2011 to increase the number. my windows isn't altered per se, I simply configed it in a normal manner to my liking, disabled the searchindex, aero color, changed some folder options etc - nothing relevant to the problem tho (VERY VERY²³²³²³ unlikely). as for registry edits that could remotely effect the internet settings: I added tcpackfrequency and TCPNoDelay.

I think we might drift a little away here anyway, I'm somewhat positive that it has something to do with either IE 9 and/or flash player since it works just fine in morzilla; and I was able to pinpoint the add on that causes the error aswell as the source of the problem (embedded videos).

Have you also tried disabling (temporarily) all add-ons except for the shockwave flash (Which should be the most recent flash available)?

I were referring to this with "yep, I did it".

Gonna check those two links tomorrow (I'm from europe, it's 2 am here, mind you ) and report back.

Well, I guess I'm all out of ideas. If software rendering didn't do the trick, then I think I agree with you that the graphics card isn't to blame. You might try restoring the registry to its normal state (if you can). At least then you'd rule it out as a problem for sure. Aero should be enabled as this actually increases speed (though it sounds like you have it enabled). Windows 7 is optimized straight out of the box (besides bloatware that the company installs). There really is no need for tune ups, and there is an increased chance those programs will cause problems rather than help anything on windows 7. However, with xp it may have been a good idea. Windows 7 is just too slimmed down for that sort of thing.

those links from yesterday didn't prove to be any help. however, I was able to rule out Internet Explorer as source of the problem aswell.
After I removed the latest version and installed flash player 10.3, I was not able to reproduce the error at all. I switched back to the current version and it happend at once again.
So my guess that the problem must have come with an update some months back was true. Seems I have to go to the adobe forum to look for further assistance, since this seems like a code problem.
