Explorer 9 and Outlook 2007 stop working in Windows 7.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, Version 6.1, (Build 7601; Service pack 1)

This problem started a few months ago when the pop up box would occasionally appear and say the application (either Outlook 2007 or Explorer 9) had stopped working. Closing the box would allow me to continue on in the application.

Then occasionally the box would pop up saying XXX had stopped working and it had.

Now every time I try to access Outlook 2007 or Explorer 9 or even Google Chrome they stop working immediately.

Every other program that accesses the net works fine; ie., windows update, online games, McAfee ect.

What is super frustrating is that I can’t access the web or e-mail to get a fix for this problem. I have accessed the internet on my phone (yes home WiFi works great) and seen that this is not an isolated problem. I have tried restores to earlier dates. I have tried to resolve it with some of the more understandable fixes to no avail.

The only major difference from when the problem started and was intermittent and now is that I signed up for Windows 365 (this is my work and home computer).

Has anyone identified the problem and figured out a fix that a non IT person can accomplish? Keep in mind I can’t access the net with the effected computer so I would have to transfer fixes from one machine to another.

Update-Explorer works if I keep the crashed copy of outlook up by not clicking the close program in the error message in outlook. The conversae is not true.

Below are the error messages that pop up for all three crashes:

    Re IE9.

*Check if any add-ons on the Internet explorer are causing the error.
I would suggest you to try opening IE9 in the no add-ons mode.

    a) Click the Start button, click All Programs and click Accessories

    b) Click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

How do browser add-ons affect my computer?

    * If the above step fails then refer the below Microsoft article and try the steps mentioned.

Internet Explorer stops responding, stops working, or restarts

    * If the above step fails then try resetting the internet explorer settings to default and check.

For more information refer the below link.

How to reset Internet Explorer settings

Important: Reset Internet Explorer to its default configuration. This step will also disable any add-ons, plug-ins, or toolbars that are installed. Although this solution is quick, it also means that, if you want to use any of those add-ons in the future, they must be reinstalled.

    * Does the behavior persist if you've accessed the page in Compatibility Mode?

How to use Compatibility View in Internet Explorer 9

    *Uninstall / Reinstall IE9.

How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9?
