I thought I'd double-check just to see if IE9 shows in Installed Updates:

Microsoft are adamant IE9 should be installed alongside other Windows Updates.

How do I install or uninstall Internet Explorer 9?

I'm just wondering whether it would pay you to disable IE9 in Programs & Features, and then try installing IE8.

Thank you for replying.

Like I said in my first post, IE9 does not show up in both "Programs and Features" and "Installed Updates" so I can't disable it from there.

I hadn't thought of that. Yes it is there but how does that help me in uninstalling, unless it's alright if I just delete the whole Internet Explorer file?
wait don't delete it yet,
do you have a restore point of around when you installed it?
edit: you can also download these exe files and run the setup, let it fix the problems for you Fix Internet Explorer add-on problems when IE hangs or freezes and
Improve performance, safety and security in Internet Explorer
Don't do that. I have twice tried uninstalling IE9 that way. Both times, a system file check (sfc) afterwards showed many issues. I ended up restoring from backup both times.

So you install it, there is no uninstall. So you try restoring back to *right* before the install, and your system is screwed up. Nice going MS.

Hi Ricky:

Goto: Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features, Turn Windows features on or off - and uncheck box for Internet Explorer 9

Hello, thank you for replying.

Just did what you said and now IE9 is no longer opening (I'm guessing this is what is supposed to be happening?). What do I do now, just proceed to re-install IE9?

Hi there Ricky.

Reboot, check the feature box again, and reboot.
Windows will re-install the IE9 feature.
