Cannot post or reply on some forums using FF 8.0

    Hi

I am unable to post a new message or reply to a posting on all Flight1 forums (LevelD, Mustang, Ultimate Traffic, SimForums in any section of said forums although I am signed in and am permitted to post in the appropriate forums as a valid member and purchaser of Flight1 products (LevelD, Mustang,GEX, Ultimate Terrain, Ultimate Traffic).

I have no problems and have tested other forums such as Avsim, Orbx, Simviation or any other forums except the above.
I have previously been able to post and reply to messages on Flight1 forums.
Naturally as can be seen I can post a message on this forum.
All I get when I attempt to reply, create a new message or attempt to send a PM (as I attempted to do today is this):

    Quick Reply

    Message:
    Enable BBcodes to format post
    Email Notify me of Replies

The message box area(not defined by border) is greyed out and nowhere to post message or will any typing be accepted.
Have tried deleting forum cookies but problem remains. Cleaned caches. Uninstalled/re-installed Ver 8.00 and a couple of previous versions. Cleaned registry manually of Firefox and Mozilla remnants.

Internet Explorer allows me to post, reply or PM without any problems, but not FireFox or as I just tried, PaleMoon browser.
The software used on these forums is Bulletin Board Software by Web Wiz Forums® version 9.69.

I have posted this message on Firefox forum but really no constructive solution provided.

    Your assistance/advice would be appreciated.

Not had this issue, so it's a stab in the dark - but when you uninstalled/cleaned etc, did did the remnants include:

    C:\Users\<YOU>i\AppData\Local\Mozilla and
    C:\Users\<YOU>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla

    folders?

And for the obvious questions, do you have addons like noscript etc installed?

If it's just that one particular forum, it may be an issue with the individual site and not actually FF.

Perhaps ask fellow FF users there, or contact a mod/admin there to see if anyone else if having a similar problem. Especially since it's a 'recent' development. They may have made some changes to the code and overlooked something.

    Hi smarteyeball

    Answer to your questions:
    1. Yes and I deleted.
    2. Only addons are Flashgot and Addblock for FF(doesn't matter if I disable - problem
    remains).

Cannot ask fellow members at those forums or Admins because as I stated in my original post message boxes are u/s including PM's message boxes.

Yep, those addons wouldn't make a difference.

But you mentioned the site (and relevant boxes) were still accessible in other browsers?

Yes my brain is frazzled. Have now used IE to PM an Admin of one of those sites. Not confident that they would have changed anything because many people use FF these days and nobody has posted about the problem I am experiencing.

I have also placed a request with Bugzilla@Mozilla for them to work on it.
Will advise if I have a successful resolution.
One thing I didn't mention is I have reformatted my computer in the last 2 weeks but I cannot see any problems that might be causing this.

    Thanks for your input.

Fingers crossed you do have a resolution. If it's not the site, it's certainly an interesting bug

    Best of luck.

    PROBLEM SOLVED

Received a reply from board Admin on a Flight1 forum and apart from his confusion that my problem was with IE and not FF, he suggested "turn off the WYSIWYG editor" in my control panel. Did so on all Flight1 forums and message box like this one appears and I again have the ability to reply to and post new topics.
How WYSIWYG editor was turned on in the first place is anyone's guess. Certainly not by me. What software would do this on a recently formatted system or is it a fault in the forum software they are using?
    Thanks again for your advice.

    Regards

The editor would be their own forum software. They might have had the default setting for it turned On, made a change recently to that setting, or just got switched somehow by accident.
