Normally I go to Windows Explorer to rearrange (organize) and view my Favorites. But for saving a new favorite, I open the page I want to save in IE8, push on the Favorites button (the one with the star on it), then click on the "Add to Favorites button" (the one with the star and the green "+" over it). In the "Create in" pop up there is a drop down list of all your existing folders so you can choose where to save the current page. There is also a "New Folder" button to add a folder to any existing folder as a subfolder.
If its not working right, you can try a reset of IE: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset.
Hi roncerr and all,
I just discovered something that works for me while surfing around this afternoon. Go to the following link and scroll down to 'retired geek's" response to Don.H. I just post it in case anyone else moved their favorites from an older system to Win7 like I did. Retired Geeks solution worked like a Charm.
IE8 won't save to folder in favorites | Windows Secrets Lounge
Thanks to everyone who offered me any suggestions. It was appreciated.

You should be able to do it as described in that link, but you should also be able to do it as both I and Britton suggested here:
Having Trouble saving Favorites inside Favorites
Having Trouble saving Favorites inside Favorites
So if the above described methods don't work for you I'd do a reset of IE as mentioned in my post.

Britton30: thanks
roncerr: I really appreciate your advice but as far as I know everything else except the ability to save Favorites the way you and Britton suggested is working fine.
I had saved my Favorites from my old computer running WinXP3 and for all I know that might be part of the problem (according to the link from the other forum I posted there are others having the same problem).
So ... since I am not that computer savvy .... I guess I had better leave well-enough alone ...lol
Thanks and regards,
