Browsers are opening as buttons on the taskbar only

When I try and open Firefox and/or IE 9, they will only open as buttons on the taskbar. No window on the desktop. I can preview them with Aero peek but when I right click on the taskbar button and select maximize, restore, minimize nothing happens. I have looked at the properties on all of the shortcuts and they all say to run as normal window. Any other programs and games open as they should. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Macatbigez, welcome to the Seven Forums.

This happens sometimes for instance if you have had a second display connected that is then disconnected, Windows opens the application in non-existing "ghost" display.

If this is your case, click repeatedly the icon in taskbar (maximize / minimize) to see if the window opens and disappears to the left or to the right when maximized. Follow the instructions in this post to bring it to your desktop: Windows disappearing to the side...
