When you checked Device Manager if any of your hardware devices had problems they would have been flagged red.
You could try Internet Options> Fonts maybe changing to a different font will fix it, bit of a long shot though the default font on my PC is Times New Roman.
Found someone else with a similar problem maybe what worked for them will help.

Apple Macs have less viruses malware than Windows mainly because it is less popular than Windows so is not targeted as much it's also a lot more expensive.

Basically, using a well made antivirus and being safe/smart while browsing on the internet is about all you'll need. The best antivirus is you: Don't click on links out of curiousity; don't visit websites that you are not familiar with, or have never heard of them. I don't know if other browsers do this, but with IE9, if I put my mouse over a link, it will tell me where the link is located. For example, in your post above stve's (#21), I can see that "Search the knowledge Base" will take me to a page in "support.microsoft.com"

Be smart. Research how to safely use the internet. There is what is called sandboxing, where it will protect your computer from programs, like a web browser. All sorts of things you can look up. But still, be smart. Even google and bing will bring up unsafe websites from time to time. If you don't know it, don't use it.

After trying this much thing if you have the same problem then just format your PC again with updated drivers and after that try to install the IE and mozilla browser.

    Hi there guys

I don't know if this forum thread is still active but I'll post anyway

Here's my concern, I have the same problem with my web browser, it is not opening and I did the clean boot and after that it went well. I couldn't identify the problem so I clean booted it again but this time I disabled Avast antivirus while leaving the AVG antivirus enabled. After restarting, I tried to open Google chrome but it wont open. And then I remembered that I just recently updated AVG antivirus.

Is it the AVG antivirus that is causing the web browser not to open?

    Thank you

    Hey mate,

It is usually best to start your own thread to fix your issues, but some tips from me to you:

NEVER have 2 antivirus programs installed. Remove all but one. Of the two you mentioned, I prefer Avast!. AVG may have a removal tool that can uninstall it for you, but you'll have to search online to find out.
