My advice is to try them all until you get one you are happy with. They all have advantages and disadvantages.

    Chrome/Opera
    Thunderbird

Most of it is because of personal preference.
I used WLM Client up until recently, Switched to Thunderbird since it's just simpler for me for my ISP accounts and such.

Browsers, same thing, personal preference. Find what you like and stick with it. Try them all, it's different for everyone.

Google Chrome and gmail with the browser for me. This way I have easy access to my email from work, home, tablet and smartphone.

Same idea here. Google is so integrated in all my things I don't think I can get away (not that I want to as I love Google, and how everything is nicely linked to each other). Android rocks. Chrome is easy, fast, and does what I need. Gmail is the same. I have six different email accounts from AOL, Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, MSN, and Road Runner. All flow into one main Gmail account very neatly. It's great how things go so smoothly now. Before I was checking all my different accounts each separately. Gotta love it when a plan comes together.

Sounds contradictory. But if your cooling system has a leak, it can't be trusted.
