Windows Live Mail not sending emails through Comcast

All the WLM functions work except 'send'. Yep....I checked and the incoming and outgoing server addresses are OK. All the setup elements look ok...so where do I look from here?

    Try this:
    Troubleshoot problems with Windows Mail
I can receive, but not send, e-mail messages.

    Thanks,
This solution is for Vista, I think. I have Windows 7, the new version (new PC) and can't seem to find similar instructions for 7.

Fairfield I see. My Dad live there.

A lot of those fixes can be applied to different versions of Windows, such as, XP, Vista, 2000, and 7. I just moved to Fairfield a year ago. My not stay here the air is crap. May move to the ocean next. I'm retired.

Tried all the fixes, but no go. May just have to resort to using the Comcast mail system and forget WLM.

My Dad is 93 and lives in the big military retirement community there, PVE. I'm retired as well, but landed a mile from the ocean in Georgia.

Try reinstalling WLM. Add/remove programs to remove it. May be part of Windows Live Essentials. If you need assistance with doing that, let me know.

My father passed away in 1987, age 75. He was a WWll Purple Heart recipient. (POW) Prison of war.

Was in the Bataan Death March. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQWdE...eature=related

Rode in the "Hell Ship" Tottori Maru, which was later sunk. http://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?57617

I asked him one time about his wartime experience. He replied, I'll tell you this story one time but don't ever ask me again!

    Quickdraw...

Thanks for all the help! All WLM settings were correct so I attacked the problem from the Comcast side. It seems the default outgoing port (25) needed to be changed to 587.

Did that and all is well!

    Thanks for the hand holding.

    If I remember correctly, it's...

    110 Incoming
    587 Outgoing

About 5 years ago, the outgoing port was changed from 25 to 587. Don't recall the reason for the change.

The good thing is you got it solved. Good job!
