    Firefox Question

One of the sites I frequent a lot forced me to change my browser from IE8 to Firefox 11. When I d/l Firefox last night at home the Favorites were on the right side of the browser. When I d/l it this morning at work, the Favorites were on the left side of the browser, which I prefer since it is more like IE 8. I was wondering if there was something I could do to get the Favorites on the left side of my browser at home since that would make it more like IE 8. The only difference is at work I have XP and at home is Win 7. Could that be the reason the Favorites are on the left at work and on the right at home?

I havn't used Firefox for about a year now. But I don't think there's a way to do that. The xp version is a little different from the windows 7 version and that might be just be one of the differences.

Thanks for your help. == One more question. When I installed Firefox at home, the File, Edit, View toolbar did not appear. I had to hit Alt when I wanted to make them to appear. At work this morning they appeared and stay on all the time. Any idea how to keep them on all the time?

Well, if the Favorites are still on the right when I get home I will make a screenshot of it and amaze you all.

    That's the "menu" bar.

Try right clicking to bring up a drop down menu from which you can select it. That should make it show up at the very top of your screen. That's the way it works in FF 10.

Re bookmarks. I'm not sure how you would move them to the left, but I've got it arranged so they spill out from the menu bar, right next to file, edit, view, and history. See pic.

when you have the menu bar showing,(right clicking in the top area of firefox will give you a context menu , menu bar is first in the list)
then select view/sidebar/bookmarks as in the pic ,they will then show on the left.

if you add the bookmarks button to the top row next to refresh ,home etc then you can open and close the bookmark sidebar at the click of a button.
You can add the button by right clicking the top area of ff and select customize and then in the window that opens drag the bookmarks button to the area you want.
there are two buttons one is for the sidebar and one is for a bookmark pop up. be sure to play with them to get the right one.
