    Hi Seavixen32
Sorry I did not realise that I needed to delete my email address, but now you mention it : it makes sense, but I don't know how to do that now the pic's have been posted on the forum.
I was sort of hoping that something was wrong with the pic's as I have checked and re checked the settings for months, and can't find any reason why mail from my personal friends cannot get through.
I do have a Win Live id, are you suggesting that I delete the account I am using and create a new one using the Win live id in the email address bar?
Sorry I am a bit slow on this sort of thing, will that work with my Tiscali ISP address? Regards Robert.
Just sign in to Windows Live Mail with your existing Live ID, and then create your Tiscali email account as per the screenshot I gave you.

Failing that, you can use Gmail's server as suggested by wanchoo.

To delete the screenshot showing your email address, click the User CP link at the top of the WSF home page, click Attachments, then delete whichever one you want to.

Hi Guys, sorry for the slow response as it was an early start and long drive this morning to fulfil grand children minding duties.
I have managed to delete the pic's but it took me some time to find the “attachment” link, anyway now sorted.
I have tried to make another account but it didn't work so I went back to the usual one and put a check in the “ server requires authentication “ box, I don't know what that is for, but I can give it a try.
I do check the junk folder, and the tiscali mail program has nothing in it either, the mail from my friend sent the other day never came, so it must be floating about tiscali somewhere.
I think I am failing because after ten years of OEx working perfectly I don't understand the setup of email programs, I do also have a Google Mail account and I have the login written down, but I have never used it because after joining, it I never found it again.
And some years ago I was doing something in Win Live? and it asked if I wanted to make a hotmail account, I did and never found that one again either.
So if I manage to find and login to google mail again can I do away with W Live Mail, and receive mail into google from tiscali? Regards Robert.

The server needs authentication is for sending messages (SMTP). Some servers need that and others don't. Apparently Tiscali doesn't so it should be left unchecked.

Configuring Gmail in WLM is quite simple. Open Gmail on the web and Login. Click on the Gear Wheel at the top right and then click on Settings in the drop down Menu. On the settings page click Forwarding and POP/IMAP Tab. Choose the Options in POP Download Section and either read or download and read Configuration Instructions. Configure as for Outlook Express as WLM is just a souped up version of Outlook Express. You may also disable IMAP if you want.

Please try out and see. There would be no problem.

    Hi Wanchoo
I clicked on a Google link and logged in to Google, next I clicked Mail and a Inbox appeared with 3,463 mails.
There was lots of unread mail with others which had seen in my Win Live inbox, but it was late so I went to bed most encouraged.
This morning at 10:00am I checked out the mails in the inbox and on first view it was confusing and I tryed to setup a workable Gmail account and following your instructions, and at 10:45pm I think I have done it !!

In my attempts I made several new Google Mail accounts none of which worked, eventually I followed some destructions from the Ask site, and as many as 3.700 odd emails came into the inbox, and I have spent most of the day deleting all the dross, which left about 300 to read, but I could not send emails, so I've tried every formula I can think of and eventually (I think by checking the outgoing mail server authentication box) I got an email to send to myself, so I will have a better idea when friends send me mails and hopefully I will be able to respond.
    Regards Robert.

    Hello Robert,

Congratulation for having succeeded in setting up a Gmail account in WLM. It shall now work like a charm. Perhaps you did not read the instructions available in the Gmail settings page. That would have shown that Gmail server needed the authentication Box checked unlike Tiscali for it's SMTP protocol.

Please now show the thread as solved.

    Best and regards,

Hi again, unfortunately I am still struggling with Google mail, although all those lost emails came in, I cannot send mail out or use Google as the default mail program, and I have had to make the Tiscali mail the default handler again.
I had a warning this morning about IMAP
"Your IMAP command could not be sent WLM error0x800ccc0f Port993 SSL yes"
and one other attached, regards Robert.

    Hi Robert,

You are accessing mail via IMAP. The first thing you should do is to disable IMAP in the Google Mail's Setting Page and start getting POP3 mail. That done, configure the WLM to receive POP3 manually.

The screen shots of the relevant pages are below that may help you in setting a Google Mail Account in WLM.

Please also reset your Google Mail as default.

Good Luck. Hope this clears things out.

    Hi Amarnath
I think that I have got the Google mail account sending and receiving now, I will give it a few days to prove itself before I press the solved button, and will add a final message : Update before pressing the Green Button.
My thanks for your help, regards Robert.
