Junk mail problem / crash problem in WLMail

I have: Windows 7 Home; Windows Live Mail Essential 2011; Firefox

Hello, could someone help with WLMail Essential please:

    (1) On the Junk Folder, I can't delete,
open, move, and it gives this message:

"A problem occurred when trying to open this message. Try again."

Well...I try many times but nothing happens. They've been trying to fix this for the longest time but, along with other glitches, they keep coming back and/or new ones appear. I'm taking the liberty of listing some below in case someone might be familiar with one of them?:

    (2) When I paste text right under another text, it jumps up above the previous line. i.e.:

    "Previous text"
Here i want to paste another text, but...it gets pasted above "Previous text"

    (3) It crashes, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day! With these cute messages:

"Unexpected error occurred within this application and it will restart now. You’ll lose any open files.” or "Windows Live Mail has stopped working." or "Windows Live Mail is not responding."...

...and of course I lose everything open at the moment! My computer and all its software is only under one year old... Have screenshot."

Thank you for any suggestions. I'm sorry for the lengthy post but you needn't answer more than just one question. :) Adela

    Hello Adela,

This sounds like the old issues Windows Mail had in Vista when you had a antivirus program installed that had a email scanning feature turned on. The AV program would cause conflicts with the email program giving these type of errors.

If you have such a AV program installed, then turning off or disabling the email scanning feature may help. Otherwise, you may have to uninstall the AV program, and reinstall it without having the email scanning option included or enabled.

    Hope this helps some,
    Shawn

Hi Brink, in this case I don't think it's my AV as I have a very simple one: avast home version... :)

I thought I might have to reinstall the WLMail...if I ever get the guts to first backup everything and then reinstall it...Adela

Avast does have an optional email scanning feature that you might check to make sure is turned off. The main scanner will still keep your system protected. The email scanner feature is redundant.

Oops thank you, you're right. I went to see the setup and remembered that they do have incoming/outgoing email scanning. I shut it off, although a little reluctantly as they have intercepted 4 infected emails. I'll see whether this helps the glitches I have and will report to you. Adela
