Help with Email links in Windows 7 please

    Hi

I am new to Windows 7 so please be patient with me, I am still finding my way around:

When I click on a return email link on a website: eg customerservices@currys.co.uk I get this message for Windows Explorer: Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed. Is this the webpage error and a fault on their site or is it my email that is not properly installed? If I am in Ebay for exmaple and click on someones email address it immediately takes me to my send page? This makes me think it is not my email?

Any answers and pointers very much appreciated.

    Thank you

Sorry, wrong answer. I asked which program you use, i.e. Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail etc.

In order for you to click on someones email in ebay or other websites and opens up a window for you to start typing . You will need to install a local email program like outlook then you can point it or configure it to use yahoo , gmail , msn, hotmail...

    Outlook comes with MS office

Sorry I do not use Windows Live or Outlook - I only use BT Yahoo Mail and wanted to use it as my default. I tried going into set programme access and defaults and it lists BT Yahoo and Windows Live. When I click on the drop down list and make BT Yahoo my default and apply, the next time I open it, it has gone back? Apologies again but this is new to me, in my old XP my default set to BT on its own.

Ok. You need yahoo mail plug-in installed. After that goto - control panel - internet options- program tabs- and choose yahoo mail and click ok

Starting with Kotix's regedit tip for gmail here and splicing in the way firefox treats mailto links to send them to yahoo in firefox's about:config, I logically derived that the answer is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=%1

After all the help i've gotten from people on the internet, it's nice to finally give something back!
