I have a crashed XP.
I can get the files from the HD.
I have loaded Windows Live mail to my new PC.(Win 7 Enterprise)
I need to find the mails data files (contacts, Inbox etc) in the XP drive and then copy to the Windows Live Mail place on the new pc.(need to know where that is too)
Any help please?

Welcome to the Seven Forums.
If you have the Windows Address Book of Outlook Express then those addresses can easily be copied in Windows Live Mail. I don't think that anything else can be copied.
For copying WAB, highlight Contacts towards the bottom of the left Panel. Then on the ribbon click on Import and on the drop down list choose Windows Address Book. Browse to the Address Book and import.

I guess I need to know where XP put its Live Mail addy book etc so I can copy into the folders on Win 7 Live Mail.(wherever they are too)
Note: I cannot run XP, I have to get files from HDD.

You would not "copy" anything since the formats are vastly different. You would use WLM's "Import Messages" and "Import Contacts" features located in the main window view and the contacts window view, respectively. On the XP hard drive look for the folder containing a file ending in .WAB and navigate to it during the WLM contacts import. For importing messages navigate to the folder holding a bunch of files ending in .dbx. If you can't see them they may be hidden so you would use folder options in Windows 7 to show file extensions, hidden files, and protected operating system files. I did that and it found the directories, says it transferred them across.:)
I opened and closed WLMail and cant see my 'found' folders?
Also now WLMail tales nearly 2 minutes to open, was 10 secs before. May have to do a restore point change and try again.
