    Incredimail issues with new provider

    HI There,
I wonder if anyone can help me with thhis problem.
I recently changed Internet providers, from Primus to Bigpond, and suddenly my Incredimail programme ( which I have used for 15 years or so) has started giving me the message " Socket error 6001 port 587 specified file could not be decrypted"
After much time spent trying to get it to work I downloaded Thunderbird, put all the necessary specs in and it works fine. With exactly the same specs, pop smtp, ports etc in Incredimail, it still gives me the same message.
It's very frustrating, and yes I have gone right through Incredimails Help pages, but in the end it just tells me to contact the Internet provider, who tells me that they can't help because Incredimail is not one of their supported programmes.!!!
I am running Windows 7 on a laptop, plenty of space on the disk, no funny games or rubbish downloaded, just mainly use it for work.
    Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks...Phil

    Phildent,
Incredimail is a horrible mail client, and may not be supported for various reasons (this exact issue could be one of them)...
Is there any certain reason you want to use incredimail over any other full featured free mail clients?

    **EDIT
Im not sure if Incredimail has an encryption option, if it does disable it.

    Incredimail

Well, first thanks for the interest shown. Actually I downloaded the free version literally years ago, liked it, so I paid for it and have used it ever since with no problems. So Now I'm used to it and feel that it's quite a good programme for my purposes.
Anyway, somehow I don't think that Incredimail is the problem. Since I changed providers I cannot work SKYPE either. I get a message from skype telling me that I am not on line...but I am !! Receiving emails etc..googling...
So I really think something else is wrong.
    Help is really appreciated.
    Thanks Phil

Are you running any kind of firewall program, anti virus or even use a router?

If yes to the first two try disabling them rebooting the pc and trying again. If yes to the third try connecting directly to your modem.

    Incredimail

    Thanks again for the suggestions...
Well, yes I have tried all three suggestions. Actually I received a letter from incredimail saying that there was a fault with the last upgrade, apologising, and offering a fix for it.
I downloaded the fix, but still not able to get on. Still get the same "socket error" message.
Actually I'm on the point of giving up...wasting too much time over it, and will probably stay with Thunderbird..
    Pity..but there you go.
Thanks for all your help anyway.
    regards...Phil

Incredimail is an internet polluter and a virus. It is about time that the ISPs block it.

Unable to export contacts from WLM to IncrediMail

Oh my goodness! That is harsh! Here I've been happily using IncrediMail probably since it was invented and had no idea there were such strong negative feelings about it.

I'm all about writing "letters" on "pretty" stationery. For me it's simply a visual pleasure. Texting on cell phones is great for fast quips ... but I'm retired and not in a hurry any more.

I've been using WLM on this new desktop. It bugs me that I can't install my animated signature.

I downloaded IncrediMail yesterday and set it up very quickly, complete with animated signature.

The bad news is: I can't figure out how to install my contacts list from WLM to IncrediMail. I get the message that I don't have any contacts in WLM.

Has anyone out there had this experience? How did you fix it?

    Problem solved

You will be relieved to note that I was able to solve the problem.

For other IncrediMail users: I discovered the contacts had downloaded but for some n/k reason they are now in a section called "suggested" rather than in the section called "contacts." That threw me off. Everything is working 100%.

    All is well.

    Many thanks for your suggestions.
