Opera 11.62 + slow speed Dial

I have speed dial set as my start page. I've got 9 sites on Speed Dial. I don't use custom pics, although I do use a custom skin.

Every now and then when opening Opera, it 'freezes' at the Speed Dial tab for 3-7 secs before displaying all tabs/windows. When it 'freezes', all tiles are the + symbol and are blank.

Once it 'unfreezes', all is normal.

It seems to happen sporadically upon a new start. Once the browser is open, the issue does not reoccur.

It's been going on for the last 3 weeks to a month - same version, same skin.

Basically, one day it just started happening without any changes to the browser. Prior to this, it loaded instantly 100% of the time.

I've cleared cookies/cache the normal way and it's still happening. I've culled a few sites from speed dial without a positive result.

Any ideas fellow Opera users what could be the cause of this sudden sporadic Speed Dial freeze?

I haven't experienced it myself, but perhaps the issue is with the image that Opera must call to display, or the autoreload feature. Both these attributes are set by the webpage. Have you added any sites recently that might be the cause? If the problem happens regularly enough, you could remove any new sites one at a time. It could be an issue with an older entry as well. Do you have the entries set to reload? A Guy

The speedial autoreload feature is set to never, and all the sites I had on my dial were working 'normally' until this issue suddenly started occurring. ( I just manually reloaded all pages to see if that helps)

I'm slowly culling all the sites and I thought I had it with one particular site (appeared to go back to normal) - but the issue came back a couple of days later anyway, so I'm back to square one.

As far as I'm aware - I made no changes that could cause this. It's certainly an odd little quirk

I might install Opera 12 again and see if it's replicable there with the same sites etc.
