If I understand correctly... what I would do to reset a file, in this case csv, opening preference is....
Right click on a csv >Open With>Choose Default program> either check or uncheck the listed choice

Or is that not what you are thinking of here?
Not what I am thinking. I believe that Excel is already the default to open .csv files, as it is on my system. You can confirm this:

Start> In search box type Default programs> Enter> Associate a file type or protocol with a program> Scroll down to .csv> See if it is associated with Excel

I believe it is, the problem is that the choice to always ask is not checked, and we have no way of getting the dialog open to check that. A Guy

Yes, I am assuming it was already checked, as was mine? Sigh, this is maddening as in even Vista, we could probably easily fix this. But 7 changed things, and I cannot locate the method to do what we want...YET! It's 3:40am here, and my eyes are going bleary, so if no one else finds a fix, I will start up again tomorrow. A Guy

Thanks again. I too have the same philosophy towards Excel. There is always a solution.
Get some rest.

Sometimes I do an "Open With" on videos from the web, then decide I want to save it. In WMP11, I just right clicked on the window border and there was an option to Save As. However, this isn't the case with WMP12. I have to go back to the link and do a Save As. Am I missing something here or is...
