WLM All buttons grayed out

My WLM account didn't work from the get-go. I never had to sign in with Outlook Express, so I was surprised to find out that I had to sign in with WLM. When I was first asked to sign in, I successfully created a new account, but then couldn't sign in! It only asks me to sign in if I'm trying to forward something it doesn't like, such as photos or cartoons. Plus, there is also the vexing problem that some of my links (which are nothing exotic) aren't getting opened on the other end.

No malicious malware detected, BTW... I think I'll study the tutorials tomorrow. I may disappear for a couple of days; my dad's coming down for Father's Day on Thursday, and tomorrow may be a train wreck. Not sure yet. Just so you don't think I've lost interest -- I really want to fix this!

Can I use that page to sign in even if I don't use Hotmail?

Yes you can, Live mail and hot mail are actually Windows live hotmail.

All Windows live services can be accessed with one ID, Live mail is one of them.

Live mail is the program on your computer and Hot mail is what they call it on the server.

So you can access your mail by opening Live mail on your computer or by going to your windows live home page.

I'm still staggering around here getting stuff ready, but I stopped to check out your reply. I tried to sign in on the WLM/Hotmail page link you posted, but it was a no-go with each combination I tried -- even the email address that I got verified when I signed up using the other sign-in page.

So, still following the link you sent me, I was led to a Hotmail sign-up page. I don't want Hotmail, but as you explained it, I guess I can sign up for it just to gain access and then just not ever use it?

OK, then. I signed up for Hotmail, but I don't ever plan to use it. That seemed to stop the WLM sign-in window from popping up. However, I still cannot forward anything with a picture in it!



I guess I'm at the uninstall/reinstall phase? I just had my computer overhauled after it got a really, really nasty virus, so I am still leery of messing with anything.
However, I will gird my loins and proceed if that is really the only choice.

OK, one step at a time, did whoever overhaul your computer reinstall your operating system or just remove the virus?

So at least you are staying signed in now. Are you trying to forward emails with pictures?

He just removed the virus. And, yes -- I still get that window that reads something like, "Some or all of the pictures blahblahblah will be lost... Do you still want to send the email?" whenever I try to send anything with a picture in it. I just end up not sending it.

Unfortunately there seems to be quite a few people experiencing the same problem, the problem seems to be

that some pictures are not actually in the body of the email but on a server, Live mail can let you view them

but not send them. The only way that seems to work is to save the pictures to a folder on your computer and

when you forward the email re-attach them to the email. Not a very user friendly method, Sorry.

Are the emails you're having problems with all from a certain provider? (AOL, ATT, Etc.)

I have been trying to duplicate that message, with emails from Comcast, Gmail, Yahoo and Live Mail and I can't seem to get that message.
