    IE9 won't stop remembering a password!

I have an account on a website that is quite important; it is a https site. It remembers my username and password, so I went to Internet options and deleted the history, passwords, cookies etc. I also edited the options to "don't remember passwords or data entered into forms etc" but the problem still persists. The people who manage that site told me it's not a problem of which they are aware either.

I would try a different web browser but neither chrome nor firefox seem to support all the functions of this site. If I am missing something obvious or if anyone has anything else worth trying please do let me know......thank you.

Run CCleaner. That may eradicate it. Download CCleaner 3.20.1750 - FileHippo.com

    This may be of help.
It lets you view password data that has been stored by IE, and, more importantly, lets you selectively delete. Once a site's stored data is deleted, IE will ask you if you want to store it the next time you log in.

I haven't been able to locate specific answers to stop IE9 from remembering passwords so you would have to reverse the way instructions are given here: Fill in website forms and passwords automatically in Internet Explorer 9

This blog in the same manner of reverse thinking gives some reasons why IE9 won't remember: https://blogs.msdn.com/Troubleshooting stored log-in Problems
In the Troubleshooting IE’s Forms Password Manager at #3 he talks of a HTTPS site. He struck it out with an update below in red.

There are also reasons why browsers (IE9) don't act well with certain sites.

Don't know if I'm understanding this correctly, but there seems to be a recurring problem involving passwords going back to IE8. Apparently if a user sets up one account (like Gmail) to access or sign in to another account (like Facebook) something within the registry gets changed that allows passwords to be remembered regardless of how AutoComplete (in Internet Options) is configured. Like I said, I may not be understanding all of this correctly so my apologies if I'm wrong. Perhaps these two articles will help.

I think I'd try running IE9 without add-ons to see if that makes any difference in how passwords are remembered. I'd also try resetting to default.

Thanks, I will try these solutions and report back.

It's funny that this happened; I remember quite clearly telling IE I did not want it to remember the password, but every time I navigate to the site it automatically puts the data in the fields and logs me in, and there's no way I can stop it! Anyway, one I have tried the suggested solutions I will report back, as I said.

    Good link mars,
Forcing Internet Explorer To Forget To Not Remember.

But isn't that an oxymoron or something? Kinda makes my head hurt reading that.

If your Forcing Internet Explorer To Forget To Not Remember:
Then it would remember wouldn't it?

I think it reads better this way:
Forcing Internet Explorer To Forget To Remember.

Then again, I was never an English grammar major.

I have trouble remembering who I am and where I live.

    What was the question again?

If you have an HP computer, look for a program called "HP SimplePass". If it is installed, it could be the problem.

Either uninstall it, or open it and delete the stored password.

Hi JayEJay, welcome to 7F! :)

The OP has a Dell (if you look under system specs in the lower left-hand corner)

But, maybe Dell has an app similar to HP's SimplePass. Won't know until krnp01 checks for it, and reports back.
