Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Web Page - why not?

I keep getting the error message shown below for perfectly good sites.

Internet Explorer may be unable to display the Amazon site, but Firefox and Opera can handle it OK.

What's more, if I give IE enough opportunities, sooner or later it succeeds - once it succeeded on the seventeenth attempt, but it is more usual to succeed on the sixth or seventh attempt.

My guess is that there is a timeout that cuts in after about one second, but I can't find anything in IE setup to extend the waiting time for a response from the page.

I tried to install a tried and tested version of IE, but was told that it can't install because there is a later version which is built into the system.

Is there some way to make the browser wait a little longer before giving up?

I am also facing the same problem sometimes. In my case, the sites will not display in FireFox as well.

Right now, I am unable to browse my own sites. Sometimes, all sites work fine.

I think the issue is related to DNS server of your ISP.

I will check this issue again tonight and update.

I just checked after shutting down the modem/pc for 2 hours and all sites work fine. I am now able to browse my own sites.

I guess the issue is related to the DNS server with the ISP or the data center of the server.

You can perform the following checks

Visit alertra.com and perform a spot check. If all locations gives OK then you shut down modem for 10 minutes and then try. This is what I have done and it works.
