Signing-in saves the contacts and calendar data as well as the http protocol Hotmail accounts (thanks to deltasync) however the mail from the WLM accounts using other service providers for sending or receiving (pop3/smtp) will not be restored when signing in with a new installation of WLM.

So guys we are back to square on, where is the mail. I will have to do a search for *.eml files, after all if they are not in the store folder, but do exist, they must be somewhere as they appear in WLM.

    Thanks guys

I use Crash Plan to backup my files to the cloud. Crash Plan copies folders (and the files in them) and runs every night automatically. I need to have some confidence that I've specified the right folders to Crash Plan so it can backup my Windows Live email. I've found lots of advice about using Export in WLM, but that's a manual process and is not an acceptable solution.

I do not have a WLM account. I don't understand what that buys me.

What folders do I backup (and might have to restore) to save all my WLM email folders and email?

CrashPlan and Windows Live Mail together is a nightmare. I have experience with this, and CrashPlan even advised me to de-select my Windows Live Mail folder and back it up in a different way. Strangely, CrashPlan creates double the amount of files that you'd have when doing a normal email backup. NOT recommended.
