Hi, I will be shortly replacing my XP PC with a Win7 64bit PC. I have years worth of emails stored in Outlook Express. What is the best option to keep using these email folders in Windows 7 64bit? I understand that there is no included email client in Windows 7, so what 3rd party is best? Thunderbird? Thanks
If you are willing to spend a little $ then you are propably best of buying outlook 2010 from microsoft but if you dont wanna spend a bot-load of money then i would propably go for thunderbird

Thanks...I just want a clean, simple, low footprint client like Outlook Express. I guess that Thunderbird fits the bill better in this respect compared to Outlook 2010.
I'd agree with Thunderbird, but be prepared for some frustration and hair-pulling when it comes to transferring your old saved emails onto the new system using Thunderbird.
Be sure to make multiple copies of your old OE folders in case of corruption during the changeover process.
I eventually got mine transferred OK, but it's annoying. Try to transfer as few folders as you can.
And be prepared to manually re-enter all of your email addresses.
Oops, I thought Thunderbird was reliable. If that's the case then I'll forget Thunderbird and choose Outlook.
I would have to agree with the others here - Outlook is one of the few programs I cannot live without. While free alternatives to anything are great for some people, to me it's worth spending a few dollars to get it as it does so many things better than what alternatives (free or otherwise) are capable of.
Thunderbird is anything but reliable. Outlook 2010 is your best option, but it has its own quirks, of course.
I've run into troubles with hanging Outlook when the database grew big. You never know what's going on inside. Sometimes it just stops responding and - oops - sorry. It's Microsoft, you just have to keep that in mind.
