Google chrome not deleting most visited sites on new tab page

When i clear all of my private data my 8 most visited sites remain on the new tab page. I know this is not right unless there is a bug in the current release. What's going on?

    Edit*

If it matters i have confirmed with others that most visited is not clearing out upon deleting browsing history.

Then clearly it is either intended, or a bug with the current release.
Nothing anybody here can do about it, sorry.

That is the way Google designed it. Apparently you can avoid it by designating your own page with an extension, but certainly Chrome is still remembering your most visited pages! I see mention of disabling the new tab page:

Deselect Enable the google new tab page from the Google toolbar options

Well before the chrome 21 release my most visited pages disappeared whenever i cleared my browsing history, which i loved, but that isn't happening anymore. Is that a recent change?

I don't use Chrome myself, so I cannot say. After clearing history, did you have a blank page when opening a new tab until a new history was created? A Guy

None of that helped. It must just be this recent stable release that is bugged. All i wanted was some clarification as to why my most visited sites aren't clearing out.

Quote from that link. "The only way is to 'clear browsing data' and that will empty the new tab page" That is not working.

Sorry, looks like you have an individual problem. not familiar enough with Chrome. If it has a profile like Firefox, then creating a new profile may correct this. You could also try running the most recent installer again. See if it corrects anything. A Guy
