THANK YOU Robin for the wonderful backup instructions! They are very clear and with screenshots and they seem easy to follow. I feel more confident now of doing it. Good idea to change to 2012 and hopefully this version will fare much better? I'm having thousands of glitches with the present WLM2011!

It's quite a job so I'll tackle it tomorrow. I haven't backed up in a long time (I think I'm just lucky that I didn't lose everything!) but I'm so grateful to you. I'll let you know what happened when I'm done, unless I get stuck somewhere in which case may I ask you again? If I do get stuck, I hope I'll still be able to come to this forum to ask... Adela

P.S. What do you think of MS Office Outlook? Since I liked very much the old Outlook Express I was told this Outlook seems to be more like the OE. Will appreciate your opinion. Which brings me to: Is it possible to keep installed 2 email clients?

Hi again Robin, I remember to have read somewhere that by installing WLMail2012 it automatically replaces the old one, in this case, WLMail2011 so not necessary to backup....is it true? Thank you. Adela

2012 will replace the old one but since you are having problems, and you are only backing up folders and emails in 2011, if you uninstall it instead of just putting 2011 on top of 2012, then install 2012', you might find the problem fixed. After you uninstall 2011, you should restart the computer, then install 2012

As for ms office, it would depend on which version of office suite you have, 2003 is no longer going to be supported by microsoft after april 14 2014, which means you would have to upgrade the whole suite, 2007 up looks a bit like Wlm, with the ribbons but again you cannot get anyone of them without purchasing the full office suite

You can have 5 mail client programs on one computer, only you might get dizzy opening them all up, each one is a separate program and nothing to with each other except how you configure each one

Please forgive me Robin but I'm not sure if I understand, are you saying that it is better to do as you indicated originally: backup 2011, uninstall, restart computer, and then install 2012? Thank you. Adela

    P.S. You're right I shouldn't install anything unless I need it... )

Hello Robin, I wanted to do all the backup and upgrading today but got sidetracked with trying to resolve more problems on 2011. So now I decided to do it despite all those new glitches, and I went to 8 Forum to copy your nice PDF to my Word so I could consult it as I go along, but....when I opened the copy on Word it was all garbled and/or written in Oriental language. I tried to look for the USA English but didn't work either.

How can I copy it to my Word? Or at least to my email? My printer prints too light so that it's difficult to read it if at all (I'm in the process of buying one). Thank you! Adela

The file is a pdf, you need adobe reader to open it, it might not open in word because i set some permissions on it but you can definitely open it and print it as a pdf
