Kana webhop website opening browser on startup without request

On startup, my browser has started automatically and attempted to open the page
    Code:
    http://www.kana.webhop.net
. I have tried searching the internet to find out what this relates to but there seems to be nothing mentioned. The website itself doesn't seem to exist (I get the normal 'This webpage is not available' tab). I have checked all of my browser settings and cannot find anything that references it.

I thought it may have been related to the Kana Reminder program that I have, but I have been using that for many months without this coming up before.

I have checked the computer with:

    Advanced SystemCare 6
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
    Spybot - Search and Destroy

    and nothing is being discovered.

Is there anything else I can do? Or somewhere else I can check? I'm thinking that maybe something is in my registry but I don't want to go fiddling around without knowing exactly what I'm doing.

    Any advice is gratefully received.

    TIA

    Hello FoxIX,

    What browser are you using?

If Internet Explorer, then check to see what you have set as your home page. If this site is set as it, then you can change it to what you like instead.
Do you have any toolbars or add-ons installed that may be using their homepage instead?

Hope this helps for now, :)

I'm using RockMelt (spin off from Chrome). There are no additional add-ons that I don't know about and it's set to reopen the pages that were open last. Which it does, but also this additional page despite closing it each time as soon as it opens.

Ok. Check to see what your home page is set as in RockMelt.

RockMelt | How do I set home page preferences or ad...-

To set your RockMelt startup preferences for tabs, or to add a home button, just:

Go to Menu > Options / Preferences > Basics

Under "On startup" you can specify which pages to open upon startup and set home pages

Under "Home page" you can set what happens you click on the home button, and you can also add a home button by checking the option "Show home button on the toolbar"

The home page button is set up to show a blank tab. I clicked 'Show home button on toolbar' and clicked it and it displays the blank tab that I get when I click the '+' square next to the open tabs.

Try adding a home page to specify one to see if it will be used instead.

I added a home page and gave that a go, and I also tried having the browser open specific pages. Both just display just this kana.webhop page. The option to open pages from last session shows the pages that were last open, but also the kana.webhop page.

Interestingly though, the only time this page opens is when I first open the browser on startup. If I close the browser and then open it again, the page doesn't open.

I'm afraid that I'm not familiar enough with that browser to know what else to suggest other than seeing if there may be a reset option that will set all of it's settings back to default.

I have completely removed Rockmelt from my computer now and have gone back to Chrome but I am still having the same problem. As Chrome is my default browser and this is the only browser this happens on now, I am thinking that this site is obviously relying on whatever the default browser is.

I have opened regedit and did a search for the string 'webhop.net' and nothing has come up in there.

What's set as your homepage in Internet Explorer? Perhaps it's importing it when installing the other browsers.

In addition, check in your Programs and Features and startup programs to see if you have anything related to WebHop listed.
