    Speech and Firefox

How in the heck to i get the speech recognition to go to the address bar? In Firefox? I have seen the video where the guy tests speech with IE and Firefox, and all he says is location. But all i keep getting is, 'what was that?'

    TIA

Have you trained your voice recognition? Also, are you using built in Voice, or a separate program?

Yes i have trained my voice recognition, even went to the extra steps, up to the point to where i started doing the same ones over again. Its the one built into Windows 7.

By your question I am guessing that it should just be working right?

I just had a thought it might have been because i was using a theme, "Black Steel', but i tired switching to default... still cannot get it to go to the address bar by saying 'location'.

    Appreciate the continued help...

I think more that you are using the wrong command to go to the address bar. You may want to try to find the correct one.
Also, try it in Internet Explorer.

I have seen the videos where ppl say location in Firefox and it takes them to the address bar in firefox.

Something else is not right because i saw another video where the person said 'stop listening', and the mic was still activated because they could say 'start listening' and WSR would activate. when i say 'stop listening' it turns off, and saying 'start listening' does not bring it back up...itI have to click the micrphone button to activate WSR. Obviously i have done something wrong, but i have no idea what it is...

ok fixed the off or sleeping thing... not sure about the location thing not working...

saying 'address bar' in ie works... saying 'address bar' in firefox does not work... it keeps saying 'command cannot be performed'

    im stumped

FF may not be supported by the built in speech recognition. Also, his mic was indeed off. It was just in hibernate or passive. In that mode, only saying "Start listening" will activate it. Your is activated by pressing control + windows key.

Yeah i got it to activate by talking by changing the advanced options. ALso created a new profile seeing if that would help, but still no luck.

Not sure why the speech is not working, ill check on the firefox forums, thanks for all the help. Still LOVE Windows 7!!!

In FF it is the location bar

It is not the address bar in FF it is called the location bar. Use both words not just location.

Just tested. A simple "Location" command works for me.

It's not working for me? Think of anything i should check? Also the 'say what you see' does not work either.

In your firefox are you running a theme?
