I'm glad your fixed; good job. This is the first time I have ever heard of a modem stopping Microsoft sites only. Does this modem have a built in router? Modems and Routers can also get infected. Thanks for giving us the method of repair it may help others down the road. Thank you for your trust.
Happy computing.

I don't think a router would block MS unless it was add to its block list, however the ISP could for some silly and odd reason.

sandpd, It is Shawn Brink and he is our resident alien and has written about 46,382 tutorials for our forums. He helped me with my first question here about 2 years ago.

That was a convoluted mess to figure that out, congrats to you for the legwork. you're lucky to be where you have access to two ISPs. :)

you know i've never heard of this "conficker" thing till now. fortunately for me i got on the site and all six pictures showed up so i guess i'm "conficker" free. thanks a great deal man (bookmarked)

yes there has been instances when the time wasn't reading right. is that a possible course for something like this?

@layback b
no i don't think these modems have a router built in. it's the ordinary usb modem with a sim card.

Having the wrong time or date can foul up several things. I don't know if it can prevent access to some websites though.
