I'm glad your fixed; good job. This is the first time I have ever heard of a modem stopping Microsoft sites only. Does this modem have a built in router? Modems and Routers can also get infected. Thanks for giving us the method of repair it may help others down the road. Thank you for your trust.

I don't think a router would block MS unless it was add to its block list, however the ISP could for some silly and odd reason.

That was a convoluted mess to figure that out, congrats to you for the legwork. you're lucky to be where you have access to two ISPs. :)

you know i've never heard of this "conficker" thing till now. fortunately for me i got on the site and all six pictures showed up so i guess i'm "conficker" free. thanks a great deal man (bookmarked)

yes there has been instances when the time wasn't reading right. is that a possible course for something like this?

no i don't think these modems have a router built in. it's the ordinary usb modem with a sim card.
Having the wrong time or date can foul up several things. I don't know if it can prevent access to some websites though.
