    Best Internet Filter Software?

I need to be able to block basically everything besides a few urls.

I know u can block websites through the hosts file but i need to be able to block pretty much
everything besides 2 or 3 sites that are needed.

This is for about 3 computers running windows 7 and IE8

Do you use IE on these PCs?
Perhaps using Content Advisor would be of help? You can set it up to block all internet traffic/websites except for those you specify as OK.

Meanwhile, Windows itself can still update and run as it normally would.
Wheel Icon in IE / Internet Option / Content Tab / Conetent Advisor

This may be ideal for restricting what the kids can do on the internet for example. May not suit your needs though.

Instead of looking for parental controls in browsers or operating systems, I prefer a complete solution such as Qustodio. Its free, light weight and easy to use. There are a few cool features too like the extensive reporting feature that let's you view the data for the past 30 days. You can also watch the profile pictures of accounts your kids engages with on Facebook. Download it here Best Parental Control Software | Free by Qustodio

You need to use a standalone solution that supports exception rules, check this solution Internet filter software for total web usage control and reporting. It will easily block all sites except white listed using a powerful web filter feature. It's pretty easy to install and manage, I use it both in the office (as admin) and at home (to protect my kids).
