Horribly annoying and recurring Babylon Intrusion in Firefox.
Hi Sevenforums, thanks for Reading. I hope you can help me solve this prob or I'm gonna die.
I recently installed some software from the net and the Installer offered Babylon Search, which I casually refused. Little did I know what awaited me. The Babylon stuff got installed anyways. The program I had tried to download didn't. Now, IE8 (which I don't use) asked me whether I wanted to change my Search Bar 'n stuff. I refused, then launched Firefox.
The Homepage was a useless Babylon Search page. Search bar was a useless Babylon Search
I immediately changed the Search Bar to Google. Removed Babylon.
Changed Home Page to Google.
Searched Programs and Features. No Babylon.
Searched Firefox Add-Ons. No Babylon.
Changed the address bar search to Google thru "about:config" and tested. Done.
But the New Tab didn't change.
After useless searches in FF options I found nothing.
Many searches in FF forums brought some results but none worked.
Then I noticed that the *u**ing Babylon Page had a link to a tutorial for reverting the New Tab.
I tried it and it worked...
...temporarily
After restarting FF it was back.
What was more after every restart Address Bar search went blank, my Searches had a .com put to them and opened.
I tried removing everything named Babylon from Registry...done.
I tried removing everything named Babylon from Hard Drive...done.
I tried removing everything named Babylon from "about:config:...Can only Reset.
I tried removing everything named Babylon from Prefs.js file in Firefox Dir...Done.
Tried Resetting FF...done.
After every step opened FF...
...still the same
I am at a loss.
I can not use any other Browser except FF.
I can not use Babylon Search.
I can not use Babylon Search as New Tab.
I don't have any Restore Point (though I doubt they'd work).
Please Please Please Help Me, I Am At A Loss.
