    Windows Live mail error 0x800CCC0F

    Hi,
    I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I set up an e-mail account on WLM but keep getting the following error message :
Unable to send or receive messages for the Vetdefenceco (RadicaRaj) account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
    Server: 'pop3.mweb.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 110
    Secure(SSL): Yes

My incoming server port is 110, outgoing 25. SSL on incoming enabled.
    Outgoing : smtp.live.com
I even disabled e-mail scanning by my anti-virus but no success.
    Any suggestions ?

    Hi Calvin,

Did you tried the following port 465 or 2525?

if all else fails try to do a repair of WLM. to do this go to Program and Features, click the program, when it comes up to uninstall it will ask you for other options, pick Repair, let it repair and see if this fixes it.
If not you will have to do a full uninstall. Once it uninstalls, restart the computer even if it does not ask for it, Go back to Microsoft website and pick up another copy of WLE
    see if that works

    Previous answer works!

The repair of Windows Live Essentials made Windows Live Mail work again.

I have the same problem and have done the repair of SLE but that didn't help. My 0x800... message is prefaced by a message in a window to the effect that my server has terminated the link, with a variety of possible reasons. However, when I initiate a download of mail, I get a message that there are (9) new messages totalling 18Mb. WLM then starts to download message 1 but stops after about 15 seconds with that first message.

I am wary of re-installing WLE as there may be a catastrophic loss of exiting messages and my contacts.

oops - I meant existing, not exiting messages

    Any ideas?

    Best wishes,
    Tony

Try port 587. That worked for me.
