Java Installed, Can't enable in browser

Hi! I have installed the latest version of Java, and have used the command prompt to verify that I do indeed have Java. I can also play Minecraft, which requires Java. I can not enable Java in Chrome or Firefox even though both of the settings claim that Java Runtime is enabled. Does anybody have any idea what is going on?

Sorry my post isn't about helping your issue. Saw an article about Java exploits. Don't know how valid it is. I'm doing my best not to use Java from now on. Here's link. New Java exploit sells for $5000 on Black market - Hacking News

I believe that browsers have turned off the Java plug-in, but there should be an option to allow you to turn it back on. The exploit is also with Java 7, the issue for me exists with both Java 6 and 7.
