    Wl Mail 2012

    Hi Folks,
I seem to have stopped getting the notifier pop-up when junk mail arrives. I don't think I stopped this myself, can it be reinstated ?
Doing a repair install did not help.

As far as I know WLM doesn't have pop-up alerts.
It does have sound alerts and the Tray icon changes when new mail arrives.
Messenger has pop-up alerts for email, so you could check in there.
I can't check there as I've been removing Messenger from my systems because it is being discontinued soon and replaced with Skype.

    Hi George,

I understand you're asking about Windows Live Mail (WLM).
I have WLM 2012 and I don't remember ever getting any pop-up notifications for new mail.
I do get pop-ups for Outlook and Thunderbird when new mail arrives.
If you get pop-ups for new mail with WLM 2012, yours works differently than mine!

Here is the WLM options I see, and I only see an option for a sound alert.
WLM is NOT my default mail program - I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I remember getting pop-ups for new mail if I was also logged into Messenger when new mail arrived.
I don't have Messenger anymore, so I can't look at those settings...

I never got a pop-up for Junk mail (or any mail) with WLM.
Who is your email provider(s) - Gmail, Hotmail, etc.?

Here is an article I found asking about this and it says WLM does not have pop-ups unless Messenger is running:

I use WLM 2012 but Messenger is not installed. The only thing I get is the Icon on Taskbar will change to show new mail.

    Hi David,
I sign-in using my Hotmail account, add my Gmail account then delete the Hotmail account. I used to get a pop-up when junk mail was received but now it just goes straight to the Junk Mail folder.

What i found is WLM opens to the folder I was looking at when I last exited WLM.
If I was in the Inbox folder when I exited, WLM re-opens to the Inbox folder.
If I was in the Junk folder when I exited, WLM re-opens to the Junk folder.

I don't understand how you ever got a pop-up for new email with WLM.
I don't, Phone Man doesn't, and that article I posted seems to imply others don't...

    I don't re-boot often, I use Sleep (and hibernate)...

    Hi Roderunner,

Yes there is a junk mail popup in Windows Live Mail and to get it back:

Go to Regedit and navigate to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\mail

Then in the right panel find

    Don't Show Junk Dialog

Change the value to 0 if you want the junk mail popup to show.

In your case it is set to 1.
