How can I adjust Opera tabs?

I just installed Opera 12.14 and when I click a link form the Bookmarks bar it opens in a new tab. In IE9 the link opens in the same tab. Can Opera be set to do this? I think I've been through all the Tools and Settings, but maybe I'm too dense.

I think this might work, Gary.

    The usual method is:

Open the Opera menu > Settings> Preferences > Advanced > Tabs > check Reuse Current Tab > uncheck Open New Tab Next To Active.

But this only applies to links that don't use a "target" attribute. You can force even "target" links to open in the same tab if you really want.

In opera:config check Ignore Target and set Target Destination to 1 then click the Save button.

This could cause problems with some pop-ups so you could also try "Single Window Browsing" in opera:config.
