Got it, I think. You always have a login problem regardless of where you login.

TDSSkiller-can't tell what the problem might be from etc etcc - so you might try a different tact.
On a differnet machine (on your friend's machine), create an WDO disc and then run WDO on your suspect machine.
    What is Windows Defender Offline?
Then reset the Hosts file back to the default

    Then

You might try resetting your MS account password here: https://account.live.com/ResetPassword.aspx
--> I would hold off on this until the Malware scans give you a green light, a clean bill of health.

I'm not sure how this might affect other things on your system, so proceed at your own risk.

If you only use Hotmail, the risk is low - only hotmail will be changed. If you use your MS acount for many applications (ie. Live Essential apps) all of those apps will most likely have to be reconfigured to use the new passwrod.
Please post when all have been completed and any errors you receive.

    Thanks

I still do not understand that whoever computer he goes on when he logs into hotmail it is asking for identity info. This means regardless if he has a Trojan or spyware on his computer which of course needs to be addressed, his hotmail account has been compromised and he needs to call Microsoft to have it fixed or give up and open a new account

wait a sec, if it is asking for details and card info, was this account that you set up orignially FREE or did you pay for it?
If it was a MSN account it might have not been a free account, if it was a @live.com account, it should have been free, if it was a @hotmail.com account, depending on the service you have it could have been a paid account.

If you originally set up a free account then there is a compromised problem here
To contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support, telephone (800) MICROSOFT (642-7676).

If you cannot call then you can go here, sign in with your live account and ask the forum, someone from Micrososft will help you Microsoft account, Hotmail, SkyDrive - Microsoft Community

Then you need to do what I said in the last post and contact Microsoft because your account has been hacked

Just out of curiosity did you have a msn account with an ISP like comcast or Verizon because if you did then you would have to have given them a credit card to pay for your monthly Internet service, this was a special offer by via ISP accounts years ago so they might want you to update your info.
If not follow my other post and contact Microsoft
