IE9 Javascript not running and other problems

I had a virus a few weeks ago and had to do a system restore. Don't know if my problems started than but I know I have them now. My IE 9 (64bit) running on Windows 7 does not show any Javascripts. The Javascripts tag is enabled in the security option and I do see the Javascript with both Chrome and FF, but not IE 9. Also, when I go to IE 9's about box there is no version, cyper strenth or product ID.

I tried to reinstall the program, but could not because I would get an error notice that a new version of IE is already installed. I also tried to install IE 10, but it would not install and messed up my IE9 to the point that I had to do a system restore again.

I have been searching the web without too much luck. Any help, suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Thank you... Ruffus

Welcome to Seven Forums ruffus. You say you did a system restore, but did you also scan your system for the virus? System restore likely would not remove it, and restore points can also be infected, and you would need to remove them. Suggest you scan with the free Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. Another good choice would be Windows Defender Offline, as it scans outside windows. Making sure the infection is gone should proceed any fixing of related issues. A Guy

Hi A Guy - Thank you for your suggestions. Your rescanning suggestion is good and its funny because I used the registered version of both the programs you suggest Malwarebytes and Superantispyware. In addition, I used both the online and desktop version of Bit Defender to scan my drive. All the programs showed that the drive was clean after the restore.

I am fairly certain that my system is clean but don't know why I don't have Javascript with IE9, yet I do for all other browsers. Also not clear why my system's information in IE9's about box is not populated.

Hi Guy - Thank you very much for your suggestions. The IE reset and the Windows All-in-one repair did not work. I think my only out might be to reinstall IE9. I am a little concernded that if it does not uninstall correctly or if I cant reinstall the program I will be without IE capabilities (some of my other programs rely on ie9) and than I will realy be stuck.
