Windows 7 Home 64bit

Follow the instructions from STVE on the previous page. They worked for me. I could not uninstall the program - I had to uninstall the IE9 update. Upon restart - IE8 reloads.

Hello dturnbull and welcome to Seven Forums.

IE8 is the default browser for Windows 7 except for some versions sold in Europe. Users have to select their browser of choice. Are you by chance running a Eurpean version of Windows 7?

Windows 7 to be shipped in Europe without Internet Explorer

If your Windows 7 originally came with IE8 try running a scan with System File Checker. It will scan the integrity of all protected Windows 7 system files and replace incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible. If SFC finds any problems, run the scan 3-4 times as some files may not be fixed on the first or even second scan due to dependency issues.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Do you not even have an Icon on the desktop for IE? or in the start menu, or all programs list?
