Windows live mail problem with RSS feed support

    Hi,
Recently every time I open Windows Live Mail a message appears stating 'Initialisation of RSS feed support failed. RSS feeds could not be updated'. I do not use any feeds and have none set up. I have tried under Options-Feeds setting update feeds to 'Never' but this makes no difference. I use windows 7 home premium and up to a few days, WLM was workink fine.
Please can you help me remove this error message.

    Hi ungaby,

You may try the following steps and see if they help:

    1. Verify settings in 'Windows Live Mail'

    - Open 'Windows Live Mail' > Click 'Views tab' > Click 'Quick Views' button at the top (Should produce a whole list of items; and verify the 'feed items' that are checked
    - Uncheck all and close the list

    - Re-open 'Windows Live Mail' and check if the 'RSS feed error' still occurs

    2. Also check settings in 'Internet Explorer':
    - Internet Explorer > Internet Options > Content > > Feeds and Web Slices > Settings button > clear the 'Turn on in page Web Slice discovery check box' (You may also refer to this article for detailed steps: Web Slices: frequently asked questions

Hope this helps. Do reply with the findings; glad to assist.

    Hi ungaby,

    Thank you for the reply.

Please try the following steps in the given sequence and recheck results:

    1. Uninstall Internet Explorer 9: Internet Explorer 9 - Uninstall

    2. Unsubscribe from RSS Feeds: When you cancel or unsubscribe from an 'RSS Feed', no new content is downloaded.
    - Navigation Pane > Mail > expand the RSS Feeds folder
    - Select the folder for the RSS Feed > Tap 'Delete'
    - When prompted to confirm the deletion, click 'Yes'

    3. If the issue persists, try deleting the feeds sub-folder manually:
    - Navigate to C:\Users\ logon \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail (Delete Feeds Sub-folder)
    - Move to C:\Users\ logon \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Feeds (Delete the Feeds folder)

    4. Perform 'Windows Updates' and recheck results

Hope this helps. Do reply with the findings.

    Hi Gabriel,

    Thank you for the reply.
Unsubscribing the RSS feeds ensures that no new content is downloaded. And manually deleting the 'feed sub-folder' ensures that there are no 'feed leftovers' in the system.

Glad that the issue is fixed; thank you for the confirmation. Do reply if you have any further questions.
