Thanks for advice LB, I feel ok with this configuration. I will post on the security thread if I experience any problems in future using these two simultanesously in real time. MSE detected and prevented EICAR from being inloaded, with no apparent--- above the surface ---problematic conflicts with Avast.

Somebody in another thread posted a link for me to read about all the potential problems of running two AV's in real time. I never did go to that link. I forget where I read it( twice )-- maybe? on and Avast thread ---that those two play well together so I've been convinced since then.

My simplistic guinea pig experiments, confirm that there is not a problem in at least my given, one set of circumstances, and yes I'm well aware that every virus or malicious bug, poses a potentially different set of circumstances.

However, some around here also praise some of the best security technigues being smart in our selections of what we open, or not. Hopefully I will be a smart and a lucky guinea pig. Brink suggested Belarc to me and I do get a low security score there.

I cant tell if IE10 opens pages any faster or not. MS says it is more secure, so I believe them. Other than not having and external something or another that I can boot from, I feel like I'm close to being where I want to be and feeling safe in the PC world.

Thanks again for you concerns. r6

rybosix I noticed you have MSE and Avast at the same time. Most of the time running two anti viruses at the same time will cause problems sooner or later. I would recommend picking one and uninstalling the other using their online tool to do so.
