Who has installed ie10? and what do you think?

I still like ie9 better

I have found IE10 irritating so far. I didnt yet get it offered on updates so i downloaded from the site for my win 7 64 bit. It seems fine handling normal web browsing and external sites. But when accessing most things on my internal network typing 192.168.1.xxx such as my router web UI or my NAS UI it seems to intermittently delay on 'waiting for xxxxx to respond'. Can take upto 20 secs to respond. Sometimes the internal devices web browser page responds immediately and other times I see the delay. Even occassionally happens accesing ny Ftp hard drive within ie10 too. Very annoying. Don't know if its down to buggy IE10 or my own system. All I know is I don't recall this being a problem on IE9 and I also have Mozilla Firefox on my laptop which has no issue with all 'internal' web pages coming up immediately. Have tried all sorts with IE 10 changing compatibility modes and twiddling mode under developer tools. Clearing cache, cookies etc as well as resetting IE10 to defaults & running without add ons makes no difference.

Am tempted to roll back to IE9 but I am sure windows update will then soon keep bothering me to install as a recommended update. So not sure what do as I like to be updated for security and full compatibility for future internet sites.

When Windows update nags you to update, just hide the update and the nagging goes away.

Thanks. Yes I could do that but I like to stay updated for security and future compatibility. Are others finding it quirky accessing 'internal' devices web UI?

IE9 broke getting to my router. I have to enter the password for every single page load. With IE10, the password is remembered as it should be until I exit the browser. I tested this with both the 32bit and 64bit versions of IE10 and the 32bit and 64bit versions of IE9.

Of course, you would report that this issue was intermittent for you - so maybe I've not hit the issue yet. :-(

But I'm sticking with IE9 for now with IE10 in a VM.

I don't have a problem with the browser remembering logins/passwords/credentials. It's just the pause when accessing internal devices via web UI. I'll try and login to my router for admin purposes. Type 192.168.1.1 and sometimes it just sits their 'waiting for response' for upto 20 seconds until the login dialogue box even shows. If I try it again minutes later it might go in straight away but then a a 3rd time I might see same delay. The same goes for my NAS, mybook live - I'll boot up and type 192.168.1.8 and can sometimes be over 10 seconds waiting for response.

It must be said that any external web browsing is not problematic on IE10, all fast and responsive.

I do also have Firefox installed and this works absolutely fine for everything. Even the safari browser on my iPhone works fine with these 'internal device web UI' pages loading more or less instant.

I am wondering if it's a bug that needs ironing out but do feel it's one of those things that will never be fixed. Especially as googling around I am not seeing an awful lot of hits for things like 'IE10 bugs, IE10 problems' etc.

Am holding off at the mo but am getting tempted to try and uninstall IE10 so it auto rolls back to IE9 - I just fear this will not be a painless procedure. I know all you need to do is uninstall the update and it should be back to IE9 but I fear the same problems have now embedded themselves. I wish I did a windows backup image prior to installing IE10 now!

I just Googled "IE10 problem" and got plenty of hits. The one flaw (or design feature) that is enough by itself to turn me off of IE10 until it gets fixed or changed is that IE10 turns off Aero. I have Aeroglass turned off since it's unnecessary eye candy (and I don't even feel it looks all that great) but I denpend heavily on Aeropeek and Aerosnap (heck, I got spoiled on my XP machines from using an Aerosnap emulator, even long before getting a Win7 machine).

It's a hit and miss with breaking Aero. It works fine on both my machines. The only issue I have is any arrows (scrollbar) or selection box arrows show as squares, and not arrow.

Have heard that IE 10 is having problems with Aero
