Process Monitor filtered for the process named firefox.exe.

What are you using as your Home page. I use about:home which takes you to the default Firefox start page. I am using Fx 22 and it opens in less than a second.
Hi Gary, this is my home page https://www.google.co.uk

ok the first image you posted was fine, did you restart with the add ons disabled?

and the second image would be the way to go when you want the addons disabled so you can re enable them one by one to eliminate the add on that is giving you grief, if it is an add on doing it,

did you see if there were updates available for them ,then restart to see if it opened any quicker?
All of FF & addons are up to date.
I tried selecting 'Enter Private Browsing. from the start menu, it did not seem any faster in opening.
have you tried the restart with addons disabled from the help tab yet?

Yes, but seemed inconclusive, so I tried disabling them manually & still seemed the same.

ok so if its not the add ons have you tried a clean install of firefox, saving your profile if asked before you uninstall
or just install over firefox without uninstalling it first.

Reinstalling FF would not be a problem as I know how to save my Bookmarks & stored Passwords.

    Update for boohbah,

I used Revo Uninstaller to remove FF and used CCleaner before reinstalling FF. Unfortunately it's still as slow to open but pages are found slightly faster.

    that does seem odd.

assuming you saved the settings and profile before you re installed
i would try copying the contents of your profile folder into another empty folder ,then give the folder the title of the profile folder.
then replace the profile folder with the new copy.

make sure firefox is closed when you do this so all the files copy over. it would probably tell you it couldnt copy all as its open in firefox or words to tht effect.

anyhow this is to check that its not a corrupt profile. this is what i have done once in the past and it worked.

if that doesnt work. then i would keep a copy of the profile elsewhere then do a clean install of firefox , not saving any settings or profile.

see if that opens quickly as it should then you can copy the profile back in .

if none of this works then im at a loss as what to try next.

During the reinstall of FF, I tested it after each tweak I made, including the addons I use. First done was to replace my bookmarks in .JSON format then my 2 files that contain my saved Passwords. I have previously posted the addons I use. These are the about:config changes I make.
