Yep, thanks, had that installed before, 2009 version. Present in C:\SWSETUP\

So I installed it just to see what would happen.. and Action Centre still shows a driver update (which doesn't download), PnPDriverNotFound as before.

Hi, thanks. For a moment I thought there was a chance of having solved it, but no. Probably after installing the driver above, I noted Windows Update offered the graphics driver update and the nForce controller. So I accepted those, and restarted. The graphics driver is now back to a 2013 version.

Here's the detail: (Note the reference to 'a new device attached to your computer').

    1. Windows Update shows nothing.

    2. From Action Centre (Download and install a Driver Update):

Just noted one driver scanner program reports updates available for
    nForce PCI System Management
    nVidia GeForce 8200M
    and unplugged devices

STK1160 (a USB video capture device, which I have, and for which a driver is installed)
    and
Sonix ST50220 USB Video Camera (Which I've never had)

IT could be for your laptop's webcam.

Hi, I'm fairly sure it is the webcam.
It certainly doesn't work.. and did - and with this windows installation.

    Imaging devices
    Device on USB2.0 Hub properties
    Driver date 21/6/06
    version 6.1.7601.17514
No drivers are installed for this device
    - Update driver
=> the best driver is already installed

    Uninstall, restart
    => same.

Tried the driver you suggested.. another old HP driver- webcam unaffected.

I've found a number of posts where users lost their webcam and could never get it back again by ordinary means.

There doesn't seem a specific driver for it on HPs website.

I've no idea exactly what caused this, except it may be linked to attempting the IE10 update.

If desperate, I do have some disk images... but would lost some changes in going back some time of course..
