When I send or email a link, when received you cannot just click on it to read, must copy and paste it. Is this correct?

That is correct if you are sending out e-mails in plain text. And it is fine to send links that way. It prevents the recipient from getting in the habit of just clicking on links. Links can indicate one website, but take you to another website instead. It is a bit safer to copy/paste, than to just click.
