Cannot install Java Chrome install or any version?

Hey guys, long time no see first of all, doubt anyone remembers me.

Anyways, I've comeback to state an issue i'm having with Java installation first of all. You see, i've started playing Runescape (awesome game, legit, anyone play? I'll add you if you send me your usernames!), and it requires that I install the newest version of Java, 7-u17 I think. So whenever I try doing that the install stops and gives me some weird error saying that its an internal error, or an browserlauncherror. Which is weird because my browser is always closed when I install it.

I can show screenshots of the errors if needed, but any suggestions on how to fix it?

    Regards
    -Nide

Try going here: Ninite and clicking on whatever you use that you want to install/keep up to date. When you run this, it will install the newest version or update to the newest version, without having to click all of the dialog boxes or untick boxes that add third party crap to the installation. You can check as many or as few programs/applications as you want. Try installing Java through that. Even if it doesn't work, you can still use the program to keep your other stuff up to date. Let us know what happens.

Of course! I use it for Chrome, Firefox, Skype, VLC Media Player, Java, Shockwave, Foxit Reader, Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, uTorrent, Steam, and 7Zip........just to name a few lol. After the installer runs, it should go to wherever you have your downloads located......mine is in Downloads. Run it and follow directions.......very simple. Expand the details while it's running to see what it is doing.

Cool. If you decide you want to add or remove some choices later, just go back to the website, start the process over again, choosing what you want, and download the new installer. You can delete the old installer if you want.....but it's not a large file. Enjoy!

Okay, so I tried the Ninite with the Java, Java x64 and JDK, and they all failed..with the same error but with different numbers. The error was a MSI - fatal error during installation thing.. dunno what that means though..this has never happened before with java..

First cleanup up all temorary files ... download TFC by Old Timer TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums and save it to your desktop.
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista/Windows 7 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.

TFC (Temp File Cleaner) will clear out all temp folders for all user accounts (temp, IE temp, java, FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari), including Administrator, All Users, LocalService, NetworkService, and any other accounts in the user folder. It also cleans out the %systemroot%\temp folder and checks for .tmp files in the %systemdrive% root folder, %systemroot%, and the system32 folder (both 32bit and 64bit on 64bit OSs). It shows the amount removed for each location found (in bytes) and the total removed (in MB). Before running, it will stop Explorer and all other running apps. When finished, if a reboot is required the user must reboot to finish clearing any in-use temp files.

    Next update Java:

    • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7u17.
      Java SE Downloads
    • Scroll over to the right (JRE)
    • Click the "Download" button to the right.
    • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
    • The page will refresh.
    • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
    • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
    • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
    • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
    • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
    • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
    • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-7u17-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
