How to get rid of info strip at the bottom of every page?

    Hello all,

I must have hit a wrong button or something because as of yesterday, an information strip about 3/4 of an inch wide is all the way across the bottom or every page, in every program and on every internet page. It interferes with things I am trying to do or see. It is not the task bar, it is above that.

Say I go to My Pictures, the info bar at the bottom of the screen gives me info on any pic I mouse over, but it covers and makes unavailable the line that lets you spell out which picture you wish to open or save.

I thought this was what is called a status bar, but when I search online, it says that is the URL address and is at the top of the page. I don't want to do anything to that.

I would like to know what this info bar at the bottom or my screen is called, and how to get rid of it! It is probably something very basic and I will feel like an idiot when I find out what I did to activate it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Dustman

    Hello Dustman,

Please go ahead and post a screenshot showing this in your browser and a program to see what this may be. :)

    Hello, Brink,

Thanks so much for the response.

I think I have uploaded 2 pics of the stuff I meant at the bottom of the screen. The first pic is online, the second is an open program. This info bar, whatever it is, appears on everything but my desktop.

Do you know what it is? And how to get rid of it?

You can see in the second photo, when you want to type in the pic to open, that option is covered by the info bar. You can't attach pics to emails or ads. This is a mess for me.

    Any thoughts/

    Thanks again,

    Dustman

The left screenshot appears to be some sort of extension that you have installed in Chrome. You can look in the settings for Chrome, and click on Extensions to see what it may be, and test by disabling the extension.

The right screenshot is the "Details pane" in Windows Explorer. The tutorial below can help show you how to turn that off if you like.
    Hope this helps, :)

    Hi, Shawn,

I've tried everything. here is no details pane I can find. There was a navigation pane, I unchecked it, no difference. I couldn't find anything on Google settings that put that thing there. Windows help had nothing relating to it either. I'm tearing my hair out!

See if this may help to disable the Details pane in Windows Explorer instead.

    Hi, Shawn,

I went to Windows Explorer, the View section offered an Explorer Bar, but when I cllicked on it, it just showed Snap0do. I hate that, and checked my computer and programs and it does not show Snap-do anywhere. I cannot find a Details Pane anywhere so I can shut it off. When I go to any pro0gram, all I am offered at the top is File, View, Edit and Tools, none of which even remotely offer a Details Pane.

    Thanks for responding.

    Hi, Shawn,

I followed the tutorial, and it put the Windows Explorer Details Pane ON my computer! Every time I click on it it says to run it to put the Details Pane in my registry! No where does it offer a way to turn it off! Man!

Please go ahead and post some screenshots of your settings for Organize -> Layout in Windows Explorer, and the Settings -> Extensions in Chrome to see if that may help ID what may be the issue.
