Open an elevated command prompt .
Click on the button type in CMD inside Search programs and files . Right click on CMD under Programs (1) and choose Run as administrator . On the User Access Control window click on the Yes button . Command prompt opens to path C:\Windows\System32>_
Type the command below and press <ENTER>
takeown /f C:\Users\FerreriaFamily /r /d y
Then type this command below
icacls C:\Users\FerreriaFamily /grant Administrators:F /T
Edited : changed /grant FerreriaFamily:F /T to /grant Administrators:F /T
when I typed in the first command I get ERROR: The system cannot find the file specified.
Ferreria Family
Public
they both don't have locks on them. Just inside Ferreria family has folders with locks.
Shouldn't be locks on those folders .
Let's try this
takeown /f "C:\Users\Ferreria Family\Downloads" /r /d ypress Enter
Then type
icacls "C:\Users\Ferreria Family\Downloads" /grant Administrators:F /T
after the first command, I get the same error... ERROR: The system cannot find the path specified.
Is there supposed to be a space between the /r & /d & y? that's what I did and still coming up with the same error.
just tried again, and still the same error.
Take a look at the link below . It has a registry hack that will add Take Ownership in the context menu when you right click on a folder or file
Take Ownership Shortcut
Once you have merged the reg file right click on each folder inside C:\Users\Ferreria Family and choose TakeOwnership . A command prompt will pop up with text scrolling down let it finish the command prompt will disappear on its own .
